Your Vastly Intelligent Body

Although physiology is intriguing, it's not what fascinates me most about the temple that is the body. What fascinates me is the poetry, the mythos, the circulating psyche that emerges from the cells of your tissues or the space between. The consciousness of each cell. The desire to be in connection with and in relation to and play an integral role on behalf of the whole. The need for the whole's light of awareness to shine upon it, to be listened to.

I'm fascinated by the things the tissues have to say, and to show. The vast intelligence of the body. To ask it questions like, "what makes this mass of material tick and what makes it love what it loves?" The body has a lot to say. It's dying for you to ask.

When you ask about the pain in your shoulder it might say things like, " Well, the most superficial layers of the trapezius is stretched forward because of the tightness in your pectoralis minor, and the layers underneath the trapezius in between the rhomboid is constricting to overcompensate to hold your shoulder blade in place but also I'm sad… because I wasn't given a chance to grieve that massive loss four years ago."

Or you might be coming in for a treatment about your chronic migraines, kind of despondent because nothing you've ever tried has ever worked and as you're receiving your treatment you become deeply relaxed. And the thought emerges, "I've never done anything for myself. I've only ever cared for other people. I never even asked myself what it is that I wanted."

And you think these thoughts and feelings can't possibly be related to my symptoms. But they are all connected because these underlying subconscious stories are what dictate your patterns, and how you move through life, and determine your decisions.

This intelligence and aliveness of the body is what is just beyond fascinating. It's the human soul that's stunning. As I explore the tissues and both of our awareness goes there, the mystery of life itself is what has the potential to spontaneously emerge. It's the truth of what is.

And all that's left to do is remain conscious of the story and observe how it shifts when we stay open and curious. When you begin to move through life in this way, from that stillness, possibilities appear that weren't there before, there's a sense of freedom, and more vitality is available to you.
